Last Thursday, the State Water Resources Control Board heard public comment before approving the new fee schedule for the Irrigated Lands Regulatory Program for the new budget year. The meeting agenda included a new tier and fee increase for growers who are not enrolled in a full-service third-party coalition, which primarily consists of Region 3 growers. The proposed increase of $.87 to $1.90 per acre represented a 122% increase.

Ultimately, the staff reconsidered their proposal of a new tier, and accompanying fee increase. The State Board adopted the proposed fees as reflected in the last minute change sheet that removed the inclusion of the new tier, and directed program staff and stakeholders to discuss and refine the structure as needed over the coming year. The fee structure for fiscal year 2018-19 remains the same as it was in 2017-18, except that the Tier I per acre fee was increased from $0.87 to $0.95.
