Bacteria

There are fewer strawberry diseases caused by bacteria. The major bacterial disease that affects strawberry plant growth is Angular Leaf Spot, caused by Xanthomonas fragariae. It is typically a minor disease in California; however, can cause more severe symptoms in sprinker-irrigated fields or during rainy weather.

Angular leaf spot is easily identified by holding affected leaves up to a light or to the sunlight to observe the “windowpane” effect of lesions.
