As previously announced, on March 8, 2017, the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board modified the Irrigated Lands Program that regulates discharges of waste from irrigated lands into state waters located in Region 3 by approving Ag Order 3.0.
Ag Order 3.0 requires groundwater monitoring in 2017 and expands the Total Nitrogen Applied (TNA) reporting for all Tier II and Tier III ranches growing a crop type that has been deemed to have a "high potential to discharge nitrogen to groundwater;" strawberry is designated as such a high-potential crop.
To assist growers in Region 3 comply with expanded TNA reporting, the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board scheduled workshops for May 22nd in Salinas and May 26th in Santa Maria. For additional details, see: http://tinyurl.com/kk7yara
