Please remember that your notice of intent for shipping organic strawberry fruit is due thirty (30) days prior to shipping. Notice of intent must be provided to Laura Irons with the LBAM program office in San Jose; Laura may be reached at laura.irons@cdfa.ca.gov or 408.277.1090. There will be flexibility in inspections due to weather or other delays in shipping if notice is given to CDFA inspectors. To view a sample compliance agreement, visit: http://link.calstrawberry.com/LBAMform.

As a reminder, organic strawberry fruit is subject to the LBAM Federal Order, including inspections and individual compliance agreements. While conventional strawberry fruit remains exempt from the LBAM Federal Order inspection protocols for in-state shipments, all strawberry fruit (both organic and conventional) for export is subject to regulatory phytosanitary inspection and certification as free from all pests and diseases.

In addition, exported fruit is subject to inspection by importing countries. It is extremely important that all strawberry fruit is free from LBAM.Inspected fruit found infested with LBAM in the fields or at the coolers is subject to the provisions of the Federal Order and must remain in the regulated area; cooler finds are also subject to trace-back inspections to the source field where grown. If LBAM is determined to be present in grower fields, harvest holds are required, and the grower will need to determine the necessary mitigation measures to ensure no further LBAM are collected on the final product at the cooler.

If you have a question about whether your production acreage is in a LBAM quarantine zone, please see this tool: https://link.calstrawberry.com/62w. This is a map that you can zoom in on your field to see if it is within the quarantine zone.
