Operators of farms located within ¼ mile of public K-12 schools and licensed child daycare facilities must submit a notification by April 30, 2019, for anticipated pesticide use for the coming year. The California Department of Pesticide Regulations (CDPR) recommends that growers use Cal Ag Permits to fulfill notification requirements.

Key notification requirements are as follows:

Growers are responsible for providing notification to the:

  • Principal of schools
  • Administrator of daycare facilities
  • County agricultural commissioner (CAC)

Notification must include the following:

  • Summary of regulation and required statements
  • Map showing location of field(s) and school site
  • Grower and CAC contact information
  • National Pesticide Information Center (NPIC) website: http://npic.orst.edu/
  • List of pesticides expected to be used July through June
  • Pesticides not on the list must be added at least 48 hours before use
  • Option for 3-party agreement

The California Department of Pesticide Regulations (CDPR) recommends that growers use Cal Ag Permits to fulfill notification requirements. Through the Cal Ag Permits growers will be able to:

  • Determine if they are located within a ¼ mile from public K-12 schools and licensed child daycare facility,
  • Develop their notification letter, and
  • Submit their notification to both the school site and the County Ag Commissioner.
